How sailfish are caught
Find productive water
The captain searches temperature changes, current edges, birds, bait and clean blue water rather than fishing a fixed GPS point.
Build the spread
The crew trolls teasers, dredges where used, lures and rigged natural baits to imitate feeding activity behind the boat.
Watch the teasers
A sailfish may rise into the spread before touching a bait. The captain and mates communicate quickly when a fish appears.
Present the bait
The crew positions a bait naturally and lets the circle hook work. Anglers should follow instructions rather than striking like a freshwater hookset.
